The image of the triangular support first appeared in the painting “Sold Hause”, created during an artist residency in Berlin at the end of 2021. The support is the foundation that holds the roof and the structure of the house. In the painting, it is visually connected to the window, emphasizing the idea that through the window, only the most essential is visible—the element that gives the house its stability.
In 2023, this image transformed into the object “Dreieckstütze”. This work is a reflection on the destroyed homes during the war in Ukraine. A window, which once served as a view into the outside world, has now become evidence of destruction. Within it, only the triangular support remains—the last structural element still “holding on.” However, this triangle is no longer just a constructional symbol but also a representation of peace, which, however, has burned and lost its original meaning.
This irony is sharp and painful: a once-powerful symbol of peace is no longer effective. War has destroyed not only buildings but also the meanings we once invested in symbols and images. Symbols that previously united people now only serve as remnants of their former significance. This work speaks of the loss not only of physical spaces but also of the symbolic foundations that once defined a shared reality.
